Beach Glass Bird

On New Years Day, as is our tradition,
Kim, from County Line Road
and I got up very early and drove to Peru, Illinois
to spend the day "Perusing" the Antique Mall there.
It's generally the only place open on New Years Day,
and so we make our annual pilgrimage there.

We always find some sort of treasure
and this year was no exception.

I can't resist these bird's nest covered bowls...
I have several, so I guess it's now a collection.

I scored this one at the Antique Mall in Peru.
A bit of research on eBay tells me that it's Westmoreland Glass.

I love the satin green color of the glass and the translucence.

It's in perfect condition and a color that my "collection" was sorely lacking...

This resin version is in our powder room.

and this one is out on our porch.

This aqua glass bird is in our cottage in Michigan, where it's perched on a shelf.

The texture and color of the green and blue glass birds
remind me of the beach glass we find so often
while walking on the beach in Michigan.

I even used the colors of beach glass to decorate our bedroom there.

You can read about the bedroom here.

I had the blue bird in the bedroom when I took these pictures.

The photo below was taken by Gridley and Graves
when they came to do the photo shoot for the Cottage Style Magazine feature.
(Shameless self promotion alert!)
You can see all of those pictures here.

The blue bird is now nestled on the bottom shelf of the wall cabinet, above.

I normally do not have that much stuff out on my shelves,
but the photographers pulled things out of my cabinets and drawers
and rearranged them on this shelf for the color and interest.
Then they added lemons!

And anyone who knows me knows I do not allow lemons in our cottage.
They do not go with my color scheme.

Just kidding.
Sort of.

But the color of the lemons really does pop...
And their photos are fabulous...
So I may have to relax my standards....

That might even be a good New Year's Resolution.

Happy New Year!
