Score!
I went to the Kane County Flea Market yesterday with my good friend, Kim,
from County Line Road and we scored some great stuff!
Kim and I have been going to flea markets, resale shops and antique haunts near and far
together for a long time. We are drawn to a lot of the same things- sometimes eerily so.
Kim used to manage a local resale shop and I went to visit her one day. She took me on a tour of the shop and I spied these opalescent water/wine glasses. They go with a set of opalescent tumblers my Mom gave me and I knew I needed them.
They were priced right and so I told Kim I would be buying them.
She laughed because they had been hers and she had donated them to the shop!
There have been lots of other times we have gravitated to the same things...
And it happened again yesterday at the very first booth we shopped together.
These adorable little shoe forms proved irresistible to both of us:
I bought the caramel colored ones and Kim bought a lighter, smaller pair.
What I am going to do with them, I do not know.
Next item scored- a burlap garland from Counting Your Blessings.
(Great booth and a very nice blog, too.)

I am not sure what I will do with this garland, either.
I am a "johnny come lately" to the whole burlap craze, but I thought it was time I jumped on the bandwagon. This seemed like a reasonable investment. And the edges are finished so it won't fray.
Any suggestions on what I can do with this?
This resin bird's nest came from the same wonderful booth.
I have been looking for a large nest to hold some pretty eggs that I had.
The nest had some chips on it, but I knew a brown Sharpie would take care of that problem.
Here is the nest now at home with the spotty little eggs in it. Cute, huh?
Next treasure is a fun one.... Kim spotted this one and knew the color was for me...
I snatched it up asap. I have a plan for this little baby.
Mr. Grand keeps saying that he likes his new truck. I may let him play with it now and then.
These two tiny paintings were inseparable.
I really only wanted the one on the left with the Cottages!
Since they were 2 for $5.00, I had to take them both. Cute frames, too.
Then there was this charming three tiered stand from a booth
shared by Traci from Whimsy
and Mark from Room 363.

Had to have it. No idea why.
I will have to think of some way to use it....
Again, any suggestions?
Also from their booth:
Why did I not buy that fabulous green Flowers sign?????
Regrets, I've had a few....
Great booth! I wish I had a million dollas!
I also liked this very stylish booth below, from Willows of Dubuque, Iowa.
It is amazing how some people just have the knack for merchandise
and an eye for how to display it.
She also had this sweet little bird tray, which I passed on, again with regret.
Such restraint, I tell ya...
These little silver birds were another wonderful temptation.
I happened to stop by this booth again later in the day, and they were selling like hotcakes.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
Different booth now...
I did buy this vintage mail holder. I needed one and it has SCALLOPS!
By now, you know how much I like scallops.
Here's a peek at one of the things Kim bought.... I will let her show you the rest...

Love all of your new finds! It's so much fun to go shopping with a friend at an antique store, isn't it? I can personally tell you that you found that burlap ribbon at a VERY good price! It is normally much higher than that. I use mine at Christmas around my tree, and tied on my stair banister. You can also tie it around a pillow to add some texture. The white 3-tiered stand would be cute in a bathroom by the tub with soaps, washcloths and loofahs in it. See? I'm really liking what you found! Have fun with your new things.
ReplyDeleteTwo paintings for $5.00?
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
Thanks for the tour.
Best
Mark
