*In the Pink* for Valentines Day

Valentines Day is just around the corner and I am thinking Pink...
I love the cranberry reds and pinks for Valentines Day.
I love how soft and romantic they are, subtle and old fashioned.
Today, I would like to show off share with you my
pink transfer ware and a few other Valentine-y collectibles.
I can thank my sister in law, Joan, for getting me started on the pink/red transfer ware search.
She has a great eye and a wonderful collection and I started out looking for pieces for her
and sadly, sorry Joan, I started keeping them for myself...
I was already collecting cranberry glass and, well,
the pink transfer ware just went so nicely with that...
You collectors will understand.  I hope Joan does!

Let's set the stage-
the table is set for a Valentines Day luncheon with a few girlfriends.
The idea for this little luncheon came when I dropped some items off at our local resale shop,
and of course, I had to look around as long as I was there...
I spotted the pink opalescent champagne glasses and I knew I had to rescue them.
I always say I like to collect things that I can actually use, so there you go.
Time for a little pink party.

See the sweet little champagne glasses?
And cranberry salt and pepper shakers, pink depression glass candle holders
and the pink transfer ware in the background?
I  mixed my Grandma Evie's Rose Chintz china with the champagne glasses
and I love how it all works together.

In the dining room, a peek at the walnut buffet/server I bought when I was still in college -
my very first antique, and I think still my favorite.

The doors and drawers have beautiful book matched burl veneers
and the marble top is still in great shape.
I sure hope brass comes back in style...  I think the pendulum is swinging that way.

I love these little cranberry glass salt and pepper shakers...

The lids are embossed sterling silver and the pepper shaker lid is pierced with pretty little stars...

So romantic.
Whenever I think maybe I am a little too obsessed with design and details,
I think about things like this lid, that someone,
so long ago, cared enough about to make it as pretty as possible,
and then I think, I have company, at least...
The ancient Greeks and Romans were into design, too.
Nothing new about it.

Here are a few pieces of the pink transfer ware:
Note the cottage theme...  Have I mentioned today that I love cottages?

I guess a castle is a cottage for some people....

Three little pitchers, each featuring cottages...

This scene looks pretty romantic to me...

A tiny little compote, with a cottage!

My favorite plate featuring a cottage that looks so much like our house,
minus the livestock...

A small tureen with an English Estate style "cottage".
Downton Abbey, maybe?
Anyone else addicted to that show?

What could be sweeter?

Happy Valentines Day!

  2. Hi Erin, I hopped over from Seasonal Sunday and boy am I glad I did! I too collect red glassware. I also pick up assorted vintage pink. My home has quite a bit of red, but I love pulling out the pinks for Valentines and Spring. I only have a couple of red/pink transferware. I am so tempted to start picking up more. I love it. Your collection is amazing! I also love your granny's rose chintz china. One lucky girl your are. I'm sure your friends enjoyed themselves immensely. I am now a new follower.
    Hugs,

  6. Erin were right our post were similar. It is funny I have the square plates in the strawberry fair but not the rose chintz, we could have a great mix and match luncheon together. Love the salt and pepper shakers. Thanks for stopping by, I'm following, Laura
